Positive thoughts

There is so much stuff out there on how important it is to think positively. I agree with this. Can it really be possible all the time? There is a lot of well intending people out there telling us that the only way to get ourselves on the right track is to change the way we think. So what happens when we have a bad day and thinking positive thoughts are easer said than done? I know that I'm not alone in this. We need to accept every part of ourselves; even the parts that don't feel like saying everything is alright. They need to have a voice too. Its okay to have these thoughts; they're part of what goes into making us who we are. Its unrealistic to think only one way and, I might add, can it be healthy?

Thinking positively has a beneficial impact on our day-to-day living and can generate a feeling of joy and well being. Looking on the bright side definitely has its benefits.

There is also great benefit in accepting the not so pretty parts of who we are. To know that we can be grumpy can add a sense of overwhelming relief and it doesn't mean we have lost our way. It only means that there is a part of ourselves that we are overlooking and maybe we need to let it have a voice. Hiding parts of ourselves isn't going to work. Embrace it all; celebrate who you are. You are uniquely you.

Being gentle with ourselves when we are feeling less than on top of our game will have a truly transformational impact on our view of ourselves and of others.

In our human past collectively there is a legacy of story telling that goes back to our very beginning. We continue to do this today with movies, books and stage. Our media also offers tidbits of this. The great myths of the past talk in metaphor, which served the people in so many ways. Where the gods gave their blessings or their anger. We all have a favorite story or one that resonated with us. Take a look at that story. What was it about it that you felt connected to or disgusted? There you will find a clue. Start there. Remember the story and write it down in your own words. Find a partner to read it to or someone supportive. Become the heroine or hero or the god or goddess. Change the words make it your story.

We need to start letting go of the things that hold us back and confuse us - the things that cloud our thinking and our feeling as they numb us and dull our senses. Take a look at the sky. Really look at it and feel the wind in your face for a moment. Eat your favorite food let your taste buds explode allow your self to be free. Dance around your living room, sing a song or hum. You get the idea. Enjoy your Life!!

Change is an integral part of life, we can all sense that we have reach a pivotal point in our human story. How we proceed from here will literally determine our survival.
